Why Women Rule Music
In just a couple of weeks 2011 will be coming to an end and 2012 will start off with a bang. Whenever we celebrate a new year, it is likely that we typically look back at all that happened the year before. Well, you might not do that, but at Zaragoza we do. We look back especially when it comes to music. So think back with us to 2011, will you? What is it that you remember most about the music of 2011? What we remember is the women who have soared to greater heights and fame over the year.
Adele is one example of a leading lady who had an incredible year. Her powerhouse song “Rolling in the Deep” gained her plenty of fans and recognition. As if she needed it, “Someone Like You” gave her an even bigger boost. Although a lot of her shows were cancelled due to a vocal chord injury and surgery, we can only hope that 2012 will bring on even more Adele.
The past couple of years have been very good to Taylor Swift. This country pop angel had a massive world tour in 2011 that kept her busy. But busy is not a bad thing in music. The fact that Swift writes her own music makes her talent that much more obvious and it’s easy to see why so many love her.
Other women who have had a great year in 2011 include Britney Spears, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Beyonce. Britney Spears’ “Femme Fatale” tour gave her fans a real reason to get excited because it would seem that yes, Britney is back. Katy Perry also toured and had some hit singles to add to her list in 2011. Lady Gaga proved that weird is in by simply being herself. All the while Beyonce and Rihanna were topping pop and R&B charts throughout the year.
