My Escape
Music is such an amazing form of art. It is full of emotion and power. It holds a power over me that people just cannot understand. More power than what I felt when I got my first new direct tv receiver. When I am feeling lost or sad, music is where I turn to. Music is my ultimate escape. Think about it, when you are playing music or listening to it, your mind goes into the song and escapes itself so that you do not focus on the things that were bothering you before. This is a list of my favorite songs to hear when I need to just “get away” from everything.
Francesca Battistelli – “Beautiful, Beautiful”
This song is just so inspirational. It gives me great hope eahc and every time I hear it. It is about the grace and mercy of God making a life beautiful. The song is touching, and as a Christian I get such joy and peace from hearing the incredible words to this song. It also gives me hope when I am feeling low. The lyrics are so real and touching. For instance, “No there’s a joy inside I can’t contain, but even perfect days can end in rain. And though it’s pouring down, I see You through the clouds shining on my face…” anytime you are feeling weak, then listen to this incredible song. Not only are the lyrics powerful, but Francesca Battistelli has a powerful voice that will lift you up and make the world around seem to melt away.
Natalie Grant – “Your Great Name”
This is another inspirational and powerful song that I love to listen to if I feel like I need an escape. It tells a story throughout the song of all the wonders and powers of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With just the sound of His name, change occurs and gives people hope. I love the part of the song when she sings, “The enemy, he has to leave at the sound of Your great name…” It gives me such a great hope. And Natalie Grant has that kind of voice that envelops
JJ Heller – “What Love really Means”
This songs brings me to a place where I remember coming back to Christ. I was raised as a Christian, but it wasn’t until I was an adult and struggling through a time of serious pain and hurt that I realized what love really means. The greatest love is the love of Christ, and this song reminds me of where I have been, and when God reached down to me to reveal himself. ”I will love you for you. Not for what you have done, or what you will become. I will love you for you. I will give you the love, the love that you never knew.” Even though I was in a bad place in my life, He was still loving me.
