I’ve listened to a lot of people speculating as to why most of the recent winners have all been male, and the most probable explanation I have heard is that more women view and call in to American Idol than men do.  Women naturally prefer men to other women at a subconscious level, so they tend to flock around the male contestants they believe are attractive and have that star power image.  If this is true, then how does the show get more men involved in the voting process?  Or, are the men typically boyfriends or husbands of women who vote, so they just go along with whatever the lady says?  It could be.

Either way, for J-Lo to have made such a statement could come back to bite American Idol at the end of season 11 if the voting does happen to go her way.  Someone, somewhere, is going to remember how badly she wanted a female winner this year, and something will be said about it.  It’s going to be interesting watching how Lopez interacts with contestants this year, and how she applies her own star power to influence the voting trends of people in the viewing audience.  Often, without even being aware of it, people will hear the opinions of someone famous whom they respect, and act on what they’ve heard.  We shall see.

The album was well-received and loved and it spent more weeks at the top than any other album in history.  How’s that for number one?  Unfortunately Adele was forced to cancel her tours this year due to an issue with her throat that she would have to have operated on.  Still, fans adored her.

Once the ballad “Someone Like You” was released she received even more fans.  The song really tugs at people’s heartstrings no matter their background or circumstances.

If Adele continues on like she did this year, there is no reason why she should not have many, many years filled with much incredible success.  Because of her amazing success this past year, she is an obvious choice for 2011′s best.

Adele is one example of a leading lady who had an incredible year.  Her powerhouse song “Rolling in the Deep” gained her plenty of fans and recognition.  As if she needed it, “Someone Like You” gave her an even bigger boost.  Although a lot of her shows were cancelled due to a vocal chord injury and surgery, we can only hope that 2012 will bring on even more Adele.

The past couple of years have been very good to Taylor Swift.  This country pop angel had a massive world tour in 2011 that kept her busy.  But busy is not a bad thing in music.  The fact that Swift writes her own music makes her talent that much more obvious and it’s easy to see why so many love her.

Other women who have had a great year in 2011 include Britney Spears, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Beyonce.  Britney Spears’ “Femme Fatale” tour gave her fans a real reason to get excited because it would seem that yes, Britney is back.  Katy Perry also toured and had some hit singles to add to her list in 2011.  Lady Gaga proved that weird is in by simply being herself.  All the while Beyonce and Rihanna were topping pop and R&B charts throughout the year.

Party In The USA, Miley Cyrus
Ah, yes. It’s not a party at all unless this song gets played. The tune was even blasted out all over the day that some pretty awesome soldiers took out Osama Bin Laden. It’s a fun tune that just makes anyone in the US want to dance, and if you don’t want to dance when you hear this, you are not American.

This song makes me want to enlist and get rid of some terrorists. Toby Keith is very well-known for supporting the efforts of our troops, and he is one artist who has performed countless shows for the military throughout the years.

This song really puts it into perspective all that we have in this country because “The flag still stands for freedom, and they can’t take that away.” I am so thankful to have been born in the USA.

Thank goodness for technology, right?  Well, maybe not so much.  The music industry has some issues with our current technology and most of that happens to include piracy, which is illegal.  It’s not like things that you can get around the law with, like a legal bud.  Piracy is serious business and there is no way around that.  Is the internet really killing the music industry?  I think it is not, but you see for yourself in the infographic below.

Her new music video “I Can’t Be Tamed” is a definite change from her first songs that were geared towards the younger generations. I haven’t really ever been a Miley fan, I like some of her work and dislike others. I have watched the show a couple of times and it was cute for little girls. When she choose not to do the show anymore that was completely her own decision and I don’t think that any one should say that it’s right or wrong. They aren’t her and don’t know what works best for her life. I am a fan of her new song and I will be finding it on iTunes soon.

Although she isn’t the same little girl she is still very talented and has a great voice. Realizing her age is the key to understanding and liking her new music. Check out her new music video!

Hip hop dance is inspired by hip hop music. The movements of the dance were inspired by the way that the music is interpreted. The lyrics and beats that the music has influences and creates new visions for people to create in their head. Once they have an idea in their head they can act it out through actions and movements.

Dance is a way for people to express themselves through movements. When you hear music it’s natural to move with the beat, the way that you move and the things that come to mind are different for each person. It’s part of your personal expression and the way that you can physically and mentally do things. Some people can dance much better than others because of practice or just being a natural. People that are more shy often don’t dance like the outgoing people. It’s not that they don’t have the ability or talent it’s just that they don’t like to share their skills in front of other people.

Hip hop is the perfect example of music influence, check out this hip hop dance.

Led Zeppelin “Dancing Days”

This song was on Led Zeppelin’s 1973 album that was called Houses of the Holy.  The song was inspired by a song that Jimmy Page and Robert Plant heard while they were traveling in India.  The music is an interesting arrangement, but it really works well.  The lyrics are catchy and it is a great song to crank up in the car with the windows rolled down.  ”I said it’s alright, you know it’s alright, I guess it’s all in my heart.  You’ll be my only, my one and only, is that the way it should start?”

The Pogues “If I Should Fall From Grace With God”

This song is very interesting.  It’s great if you’re into celtic punk like Flogging Molly.  It is a cool tune and I can see why some people would like to listen to it when they are in good spirits.  After taking a listen to it, I found the song “Sunny Side of the Street.”  That could be another happy tune also.  I think the music itself is what truly makes the songs happy.

Ram Jam “Black Betty”

This is another tune that is perfect for cruising in the car with the windows down and this song blaring through the car’s speakers.  Nothing is better than that.  It is a song that has been featured in numerous movies, television shows, and commercials because it is easily recognizable and catchy.  Some people mistake the band Ram Jam for AC/DC, but it is not AC/DC.

NeverShoutNever “CheaterCheaterBestFriendEater”

NeverShoutNever plays music that is upceat and fun.  The ukulele just happens to make any song feel happy and exciting.  In fact, there is not a single song that is performed by NeverShoutNever that is not an incredible happy song.

Rap

TobyMac – TobyMac began his career in the Christian Rap genre with the group dcTalk.  After the band split in 2000, TobyMac set out to start hi solo career, and it has been a marvelous career so far.  The artist captures listeners of all types of Christian music with his touching lyrics, yet he invites in those who have never listened to Christian music with the sound and flow of the music behind the lyrics, all the while sharing the joy of Christ.

Group 1 Crew – This group, Group 1 Crew, is a Christian hip hop band that made their debut in the year 2007.  They have been nominated for and won numerous Dove Awards since they began performing together, and like TobyMac, they appeal to both lovers of Christian music and to those who may not otherwise listen to Christian music.

Metal

Skillet – In 1996 the band Skillet came together to perform.  This band performs some pretty hard rock hits, and they are able to reach across the genres and outside of the Christian genre to spread the word about God to metal lovers.

Red –  Red is another Christian rock band pushing the boundaries genre-wise and spreading lyrics that are thought provoking and driven to spread the Gospel.  The band was even nominated for Grammy Awards for the Best Rock Album.

Thousand Foot Krutch – Thousand Foot Krutch, or TFK, as their fans say is a rocking Christian band from Canada that came together in 1997.  They have earned many awards for their works, and they continue to play and intrigue all types of fans.

Punk

Hawk Nelson – Like TFK, Hawk Nelson hails from Canada.  The group tends to perform upbeat and positive punk inspired tunes.  They have gone mainstream with a lot of their works, appearing on television shows, singing in movies, and being featured on commercials for things like Sunday Night Football.

Relient K – The band Relient K formed during their junior year of high school in the year 1998. They have been well received in mainstream music as well thanks to two of their studio albums.
